WHAT WE DO: Research
index
CFY has been partnering with external researchers and has also been conducting our own internal research since early in our development. Our research efforts have four objectives:

Ongoing Literature Review

CFY consistently scans the literature on child development, psychology, parental involvement, and sociology to identify findings relevant to our work. What we have seen is that most of the current research related to the Home Learning Environment is scattered. Therefore, we are focused on creating a clearer picture of what constitutes a strong Home Learning Environment and what can be done to help more families enhance their own Home Learning Environment.

Key Studies on the CFY Program

  • ETS Study showing that CFY's program has a positive and statistically significant impact on student math test scores

  • CFY Comparative Study showing that the CFY program helped arrest the typical performance slide in 7th grade writing and that students put more effort into their English classes (as measured by teacher ratings)

Our Research Partnerships and Contributions to the Field

CFY has published research findings in numerous papers and has presented them at conferences including the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference and the Consortium of School Networking (CoSN) conference. CFY has also worked closely with the research team at the Educational Testing Service (ETS), one of the largest and most respected education companies in the world.
