CFY’s

Master Teacher

program recruits and trains individuals to facilitate our Family Learning Workshops held on Saturdays at participating CFY schools.

Master teachers are responsible for creating an inviting and motivating classroom environment while teaching low-income families how to use their CFY computer-based

home learning center

to strengthen core academic skills.

Within CFY, master teachers form a core group with considerable comraderie. Throughout the year, CFY assembles all the master teachers to solicit feedback on how to improve our curriculum. Some of the best ideas CFY has put into place have come from our master teachers.

Master teachers are often current or retired school teachers, parents or community members who have the requisite skills and also have considerable experience with low-income students and their families. Master teachers receive a stipend from CFY for their work. To learn CFY’s philosophy and curriculum, new master teachers attend an orientation session, observe two family workshops and then co-teach at two workshops.
