CFY's programs have a tremendous impact on the families we serve.

family testimonials.
Student Performance
- In the first year of our three-year study with ETS, we found that the students actively and regularly used their computer-based
home learning centers
and the Internet for learning and that their home learning center
use was associated with increased success in school. Using logistic regression, we further found that students' engagement and home learning center
use, particularly their home Internet use and home learning center
use for self-regulated learning, explained 14% of the variance in their 2006 math test scores over and above 2005 scores. (CFY-ETS Impact Study: Findings from year one of a three year study).
- CFY’s research has shown a direct connection between home computing, student engagement and student performance. For students who reported working harder in school because they had a computer-based
home learning center,
their hard work was positively and significantly correlated with their teachers' ratings of academic improvement, r(122)=.204, p<.05 (FY04-05 Impact Study).
Student Engagement
- 70% or more students in CFY's program consistently say that having a computer-based
home learning center
helps them become more curious and feel more confident (FY05-06 Impact Study, FY04-05 Impact Study, FY03-04 Comparison Study).
- Nearly two-thirds of students report working harder in school because they have a
home learning center
(FY05-06 Impact Study, FY04-05 Impact Study).
- Students participating in CFY’s program increased their class effort, while a comparison group of students did not. Effort was measured by teachers using pre- and post-ratings, and the difference between the groups was statistically significant
(FY03-04 Comparison Study).
Parental Involvement
- 71% of the parents said that they used their
home learning center
to help their children with homework (Report from 2002 telephone survey).
- More than 90% of parents feel more confident in helping their children learn as a result of CFY's program
(2006 family workshop evaluation).
- CFY’s research indicates that family involvement may play a critical role in academic achievement. 91% of students whose
home learning center
helped them perform better in English/Language Arts, reported that their home learning center
improved their family relationships (FY03-04 Comparison Study).
